The Radio 2 New Comedy Award was created to put new stand-ups in the limelight. Previous nominees have included Peter Kay, Lee Mack, Alan Carr and Sarah Millican. We were given an open brief to rejuvenate the identity for this exciting talent search.
Approach
So, what makes stand-up comedy different? We boiled it down to one crucial piece of equipment – the microphone. Obviously a stand-up’s no use without an audience, so we made the campaign appeal to performers and audiences. We wrote the headline ‘Time to stand up’, produced the comedy club promo posters, and contributed to the TV trails, too.
