BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2012

The annual awards ceremony, one of the jewels in the network’s musical calendar, moved out of London to The Lowry, Salford and for the first time, Radio 2 listeners were able to attend.
Approach
We gave a gritty, urban feel to the materials, using wood block typefaces and black and white photography, applying this approach across the website, event programme and TV backdrops.
Outcome
The awards were broadcast live on Radio 2 and online at bbc.co.uk/radio2 and hosted by Mike Harding, whose Radio 2 Folk show has achieved a record weekly audience of 920,000.
